I love writing. I love having a voice. That doesn’t just mean writing, they teach you that at school between 6 and 10 years old, having a voice is much more complicated. It took a long time to recognize mine, finding one’s authenticity in the midst of all the things in life is a tiring job, don’t you think so?Unfortunately, I am also lazy and for a while I just had to contemplate the dream.
Then I discovered that persevere in the intention of an idea is more important than falling in love with it.
I am Costanza and I couldn’t have a name that suits my character less: moody, irregular, I live following the flow of things. I do almost everything randomly, which is good but also bad. My writing has been inconclusive for years. Twenty-five to be precise. I have good imagination but my characters did not survive the first twenty pages. Until I stopped barricading myself behind the characters. Until I met someone who pushed me to believe I had talent.
My fiancé is a journalist and as such is absurdly critical of writing, a bit maniacal if you talk about commas. When we first started dating, I used to send him a piece of a story every night pretending to have found it somewhere. After some time, he started looking for it on the internet because he wanted to buy the book, I had to confess. From that moment he became my most severe and affectionate reader and thanks to him this page exists.
This adventure would not have seen the light of day if it wasn’t for the trust he placed in our abilities, mine and his. Because I am in charge of writing and he is in charge of everything else, and everything else is much more difficult. So here we are: I am Costanza and the magician behind all this is Edoardo. He calls me Cocò and that’s why the symbol on this page is Co squared, a stupid idea we scribbled on a Rome-Bologna high speed train. We are dreamers but this, this was too good to be left in a drawer.
